Have a nice Easter?

It was beautiful today. I went back to a small park with ball fields that I hit hard
last year Took out a ton of clad and Misc things. Today I decided to hit an area of
the park I knew was full of trash. I wanted to prove a point that others here have
tried to get across for sometime now: about how trash can MASK
out good targets. Sure enough, in all that trash as seen in the photo, there were good
targets. "But it's only a handful of clad", you say. Yes, but it could just as easily have
been a ring maybe even a gold ring. All those signals we choose to ignore as junk
may well be just that, hiding a good target underneath or near by.

Didn't find any easter eggs though. Guess no one knew I was coming.-)

Sure we all want to find an forgotten picnic grove littered with pre-1900's silver. But until we do, we hit the local parks, schools and beaches - as we should. This is a hobby, after all.

As you've noted, such places can bring home the goods, but there is the trash to contend with. There is no easy or simple way around this stuff and what works for one guy may not suit another. The bare truth is that you simply have to grin and bear it, persistently working at it until you hit on the combination of equipment that works for you.

It isnt for everybody, but those that can pull it off earn the rewards. I remember a guy named Ralph Bryant who used to visit here. He used an ACE 250 and hunted only trash targets. He dug a lot of junk - and he hauled in many gold rings. Ralph was an inspiration, but Im sure he'd tell us that you gotta stick with it.

After all - if it was easy everyone would do it.

Yeah I miss Ralphie. I used to visit his forum but I think it's gone. Got his email somewhere. Should check and see how he's doing.
