Have been using these setting s a lot lately and love it

My soil here is mild and if someone else has mild soil and the conditions permit they may be able to use these also with a bit of luck.

Sensitivity= 80

Discrimination= 3

Tones= 3

There is quite a bit of chatter but one can still hear the good signals come through loud and clear. And if your ground permits these setting have a lot of punch and get some incredible depths. I pulled a wheat out of the ground yesterday at a measured 9 1/2 inches.. Still learning the T2 but love it more and more every time out. I hope to be able to purchase a Tek T2 LTD sometime this year. I can only imagine how far one can get into the ground with the boost mode as the standard t2 does a great job on its own. Anyway sorry to ramble and hope you all have a nice evening.. Happy hunting..

Your getting that added "boost" already using disc 3 & under. Some "chatter" is there, but to me it's no different than I used to run my old school units with constant threshold. I just think of it as a threshold, & sometimes if I'm away from people I'll pop the headphones out so I don't get a headache ;) The rewards are worth the "noise".......I'm re-hunting several places with similar 2+ settings.
Also, I'm a firm believer in finding a setting that works & your comfortable with & sticking with it. Too much fumbling around with different detectors and setting just takes away good hunting time.......
HH,
Bill

I read these types of posts and am curious what you define as being "mild?" What is the average Ground balance setting? During your sweeps or when bobbing the search coil when you get a GB, how many Fe3O4 bars do you get?

I never pre-guess a Sensitivity level because it can vary from site-to-site based upon the EMI present, or lack of it. I hunt a couple of parks close to me and usually run it at '80' to '87' when I am closer to the fringes of the parks and there's more interference, but out in the open areas I am usually cranked to '95' to '99' and not a blip of sound to break the Threshold hum in All Metal, and the Discriminate mode just purrs along.

Personally, if I am strictly 'coin hunting' and am working average ground, I might opt for '3' or '4' Tone ID options, but more frequently I hunt with '1', '1+' or '2+', depending on whether there is a lot of iron trash of not If there is a lot of iron, I use '2+' and keep my Discrimination set at '0' (if I want all-metal detection) or at '10', unless the iron nail count is terrible. If so, I choose to just barely reject the iron nails and still listen to the higher-reading iron responses.

As you can see, we all tend to settle on certain weak or strong points for us and out types of hunting.

Congrats! In the more favorable ground I hunt, and where the soil have been turned or built-up over the years, I have also pulled smaller coins in that 8"-9+" range. Not so in the nastier ground, but good ground does help.

The T2 SE might provide some improved performance for some people in some applications, but if you're hunting at the fringe right now and getting a little noise, it might not be very useful for you.

the other way to look at it is that, if you are nabbing wheat cents at 9

did manage to up the sensitivity to 90 today and played around a bit in the test garden. it seemed that i got another 1/2 inch in depth but this was not a measured depth but an eyeballed guess so it may be inaccurate. but in any case there did seem to be a little increase in depth non the less. am going to hunt the old school house i have hunted for some time and flip the sensitivity to 90 when i hit the school and see if i can get anything my other machines missed over the last 3 years of hunting the school. i have used a highly modified mark 1, minelab explorer 2, compass coin scanner pro, whites xlt, garrett gtax 550 and a treasure baron with cointrax module. in truth the treasure baron with cointrax module seemed to get as good if not a tad better depth than the t2 but the baron is a different bird and has a large learning curve. i got rid of mine a few months back and traded it for the t2. i hope to get another treasure baron later this year as they are one of the deepest vlf machines ever made and thats a fact. just not a lot of folks using them. it was most likely the deepest machine george payne ever designed. and i will definitely get another mark 1 ltd as the mark 1 has the sweetest tones of any machine ive ever had. and i got to learn the mark 1 and understand all its quirks. i could easily discern bottlecaps and when i hit silver it was very easy to tell using the analog meter. anyway sorry to ramble and hope you all have a nice evening and a better day tomorrow. happy hunting..
