Had me very excited when I first read the brochure, I liked the idea of USB, and also that trash mode perked me up..
However now after reading the manual (not that close mind you) It looks to me like the trash mode, is simply another pattern, so nothing to do with how the detector handles trash in the electronics, just a way to reject it which we can all do if we want already.. USB mode I didn't see where it said anything about sharing programs with others, but may have missed it.. Since I pretty much run iron mask with only one notch discrimination, not sure who I would need to save it for anyway :)

The big this is the way they changed the smart screen.. its gonna confuse a lot of people that are used to the explorers, with the switch of what direction the conductivity and ferrousity read on the screen... bottle caps will know read top left the way see it.. but at least silver will stay put.. nickels will read along the left edge etc etc.. a whole new pattern will have to be learned.. not sure why they changed that other than to add more notches to conductivity I guess

Besides weight my biggest thing is the response time in nulls... whether the new processor(is it new?) is faster enough to do better I dont know.. Anyway it looks like another more expensive explorer.. same coils and rods and control box.. different guts.. but is it just software different or do we have more power and different circuits as well?.. 1895 list is a heck of a lot, 1498 discount aint no drop in a bucket either, especially after just buying an SE and the new coil... I could have at least held off on the coil if I knew this is what it was built for... I am sure I will be getting one.. just hope its worth another months pay after spending last months already

Whoever gets one of these babies let me know if you can utilize bluetooth headphones

Someone mentioned this in another thread and I think it will work too. I am just not sure as when you hook up the E-TRAC program power is coming from the PC. Not sure how this will play when detector is on and you try utilizing the USB port. In theory it should work.

A lot more work needs to be done with Bluetooth headphones. The delay when used on a detector like the Explorer being the main problem. We have tried most of the current crop that are available from the far east. We managed to source dongles and headphones that had enough battery life for a decent detecting session but the delay with the signal always put an end to the test.

That's probably why KellyCo stopped selling their bluetooth ones. I was curious because at the bottom on that page it states,"

The best ones we found on Ebay were made by Motorola. They had by far the best battery life of the ones we tested. The dongles took some finding and had a battery life of around 4 hours so with a spare would last for a decent days detecting. The big problem was you would hear a signal but would then have to backtrack slightly to let the detector catch up which wasnt good. At least they work brilliantly on Mp3s, hi fi, and pc so the money isnt wasted.

So I'm assuming that bluetooth would have better shot on MD with faster recovery times?
