The little woman and I are scheduled to take a trip to Maui and the Big Island next month. Being a foolish fellow, I thought I would take the Excalibur along. Does anyone have any advice? Good beaches, tips, anywhere MD is prohibited?
 
I've never been so I'm just repeating hearsay but I've heard that hotels can be cranky when you're "within their beach territory" and that someone reported having a run-in with the MD locals when he was helping someone find their lost ring; apparently at least a few enterprising locals charge hotel guests $$$ to find their lost stuff.
 
My wife and went to the Big Island in Feb. Stayed at the Mauna Kau. Nice place. Hunted the dry sand there every morning and also headed over to Hapuna beach. Never had any problems. Found some nice things.
