Headhunter PI Used as Gold Detector?

This is probably a really dumb question, but I live close to the Bradshaw mountains of Central Arizona and what would prohibit me from using a Headhunter PI both as a fresh lake water detector AND a gold detector to get down to small gold nuggets lodged in bedrock. Is there a technical reason why the PI could not be used this way? Appreciate the input.

The Headhunter Pi should be able to do for you what your asking. Of course, the circuit was chopped, and shrunk up a bit to fit it in the headphone cup. It does well on the nasty ground, and handling the hot rocks, but they are a few limitations. It is very lightweight, and of course it
