Headhunter PI vs. PI PRO?

Hello Peeps,
My GQ SS smoked when I had to resolder a rechargeable battery pack that had come undone. I hadnt done that since I built the pack two years ago that I completely botched the job and soldered the polarity backwards. PFFFFSSSST!
The GQ is on its way to Mr. Bill for repairs. But for the meantime, I got a Whites PI PRO to tide me over.
Is the Headhunter PI any better that the PI PRO? THe do have the same delay dont they? 15us?
I got a good price on a 2 month old PI PRO with warranty. If the HH PI is an improvement, the PI PRO goes to ebay if an HH PI shows up in the for sale forums.

I placed a high current diode in my HH detector I built just for that reason. Did it twice before I decided I was to forgetful about polarity on the batteries. I think you only lose about .7v on the drop across it.

Here is a way to protect from reverse battery damage with no voltage drop. Putting the battery pack in backwards causes the diode to conduct and blow the fuse. Always leave the power switch off when you replace the batteries or the detectors electronics could blow before the fuse does. This cannot happen when the detector is switched off. You can buy plastic inline fuse holders at radio shack. A 3A fuse should do the trick.
