What does the Headhunter unit air test on a nickel?
Does anyone have an opinion as to this unit's ruggedness, service record, repair turn-around time etc????

I have had a modified C-Scope CS6PI that would detect a nickle easy at 13", it is same basic circuit as the HH. Detector Pro products are good and give good service from what I have heard. Don

What would theoretically be the difference in detecting depth on a nickel using a PI machine at 15uS and a PI machine set at 20uS, all other things being equal? What types of items would I be expected to fail to detect with the 20uS unit that the 15uS unit might find? Or is there not that much of a difference?

I have not used a detector at 20uSec, but if it is large enought to be detected, I don't think the difference will be much. Usec is a measure of sensitivity. The lower the Usec number the more sensitive the detector is mostly towards gold, non-conductive objects. The decay rate on these items is very fast compared to other items.

Hi Timothy,
Your question is a good one. Is the a noticeable difference between a PI operating at 15 usec and one operating at 20 usec. I would say yes. If all other things are equal, the PI operating at the 15 usec delay would definitely be more sensitive to most objects if not all. I would hate to speculate just exactly how much more depth one might see on something such as a nickel, but I would guess it would be an inch or more.
The PI operating at the shorter delay will also detect smaller gold objects or other lower conductive objects that the other PI may not "see". Thin gold rings, small earrings, and small gold chains would be the logical things the shorter delay machine would detect that might be missed by the other PI.

The Tesoro Sandshark has a 22us delay. I swapped the crystal and improved it to 16us. The added depth on a man's gold band was about 2 inches.
All these numbers are off the top of my head, details were posted on this forum long ago.
