Headphone Impedance of F70/F75

With my awful hearing, it probably does not make much of a difference (I'm deaf in left ear), but what is the headphone impedance of the of Fisher F70/F75 series? I am hoping to improve what I hear. I am using an inexpensive pair, but outside noises like waves and wind drive me crazy at times. I am concerned that really good earphones may have large muffs that will roast my ears on hot days at the beach.

I am looking for headphones that will not fry my ears, will quiet down some of the external noise and still hear those sweet quieter sounds of my F70 finding something for me to dig.

I wish I had found this hobby forty years ago when I was in my forties.

It's those muffs that cut out the ambient noise so well and let us hear everything better.
I use Killer B's, a little hot on super warm days but for me not unbearably so.
Nice and toasty for hunting on cold days, also.
They have a one sided unit, that would get you 50% less discomfort and you don't need the other side anyway.
Other brands might offer this configuration also.
Volume control, fantastic sound on all signals, made for this hobby specifically...I am happy I bought them.

Fis440, a good pair of headphones is absolutely a necessity for metal hunting. In my opinion you need the muff sets that completely cover your ears to give you the best sound plus knock out outside interference. A good set is worth the money, I just bought some grey ghost ultimate headphones and they weren't cheap. Good detector, good pinpointer, and good headphones are a must.

If you are hard of hearing and want to hear the 'whispers' of the deeper targets, then only a set of Killer B Wasp is going to fit the bill for you. They have left and right volume controls that enable to you to level out the volume so you hear the sounds level in each ear. I have some hearing problems and being able to adjust the sounds for each ear makes for an enjoyable hunt. I have had mine for several years and yes, they are warm in the hot weather but well worth the investment.

My hearing is not great either, I did pick up a pair of Koss UR29 and they are much better than what I was using. With the UR29's I can only turn up the volume 1/4 of the way on the control. Using the Koss,I sometimes wonder if the headphone's in the $100.00 range are that much better! Something that I would like to find out, without spending the $$$$$$---- -----------after1-------------------

The GOOD detecting headphones are basically custom built from HIGH end hearing muffs, which has a MUCH greater db reduction in ambient noise which greatly clears up the faint target responses of distant or tiny targets.

The best of the detecting headphones not only includes top end hearing protection muffs, but also higher end speakers!

Another good choice in headphones is the Sun-Golds, they have the dual volume controls, a limiter switch, and a select switch for different types of detectors.

It should be mentioned that the Gray Ghost company has dropped the use of the higher quality speakers in their headphones due to cost and is now using a lower cost speaker. The information I got this happened in the past two years or so. That is to say if you are using the Gray Ghost from say three years ago and like their sound and you buy a new pair you may not like them. For more information and details about them you can send me a PM, if I say anymore about them in an open post I'll most likely get into trouble with the moderators and or admins.

I haven't priced the Sun-Ray's NEW in awhile I'm going to say that they're somewhere in the neighborhood of $130.00 to $140.00 and like you I couldn't choke down that much either and that was before I lost my job. What I did is I watched the forum classifieds and picked mine up in good condition for $80.00
As far as I know all the Top End detecting phones are in and around $115.00 to the $140.00 range. The price for the ear muffs that they use is around $40.00 to $60.00 although I'm sure they get a bulk buy discount on them.
I have a set of detecting headphones that a forum member made out of a set of "Thunder 29" ear muffs. The muffs snap out, the cups are easy to drill, and apparently headphone speakers are a common fit.

The wife say's I'm tone deaf and can't hear and couldn't win a singing contest even if I was the only one entered!--- Found a used set for a little under $70----Still think better speakers ----- Sorry about the job ------------Gh-----------------after1

I have hearing loss in my right ear. I use the Killer Bee Wasp headphones. With the limiter switch you can make the headphones louder and adjust both headphones to where the sound is the same loudness in both ears. The Killer Bees are really comfortable also. The Detector Pro Black Widows also have a limiter switch but I prefer the Killer Bees.

If I remember right they are 100 ohm speakers. I know my shadow ear phones are 100 ohm. I like the Timber wolfs better then any phones I have ever tried and used. I don't know if you will be able to find a used pair. They are very hard to come buy. The reason I like them so much is I have a very big hearing loss almost all my high freq. numbers are gone. The Shadows ear phones are excellent quality and are a little lower in tone but, on some machines they work great for me due to my hearing loss. . Different machines work different on different type of head phones. I been thru all of them. Those two work for me. My hearing is very bad. Almost deaf in my right ear. Anyway try the 100 ohm speakers. You can buy them and install them in some muffs. You will save a hell of a lot of money making your own. Both phones have volume controls and that is another thing you want on them. HH Jerry aka Tinfoil

(100ohm)----Tinfoil gave the answer to fjs440 question ------------Last Spring I was going to buy Killer Bees or Black Widows and I bought another pair of Treasure Wise, Now get this, talking to the person that owns the metal detecting store, he tells me that he gets out a little every day and he has his pick of headphones and he always goes to the Treasure Wise, Ok - Hey,I was all set to spend$120-$150 and I spend $29.95 shipped to my door. Found the Modification Forum and posted about speakers and was told to get Koss UR 29s, they are good to me but no volume control. So I will be still looking and thinking about better sounding headphones .------------------after1----------------------[/left]
