headphones for sov-gt

hoping some of you gt users can give me a heads up on the best headphones for my new gt all the ads say how good there's are but would like to hear from some users.thanks

i like the Oridginal Jolly Roger's the best.iv got 3 Sovereign's and 3 Jolly Roger's.. the tone sounds the same with the Jolly Roger's on all 3.so when you get used to a tone you know what to expect.

I USE BLACK WIDOW HEADPHONES ON MY GT AND LOVE THEM. THEY ARE VERY CLEAR AND YOU DON'T HEAR MUCH OUTSIDE NOISE. THEY HAVE VOLUME CONTROLS AND SWITCHES SO YOU CAN USE THEM WITH DETECTORS WITH DIFFERENT OHM NUMBERS. HH-MARK

I love using the Sunray Pro Gold headphones with the blast limiter switch and adjustable audio controls on each ear - it is perfect for my hearing situation. They are "pricey" but to me, well worth the $$$.$$ - Jim

Another vote for the Sunray Pro Golds! I've tried the Grey Ghosts and the Jolly Rogers, and while they were both very good headphones the sounds just seem cleaner out of the Sunrays. To me the Grey Ghosts were the most comfortable out of the three mentioned.

I love my Grey Ghost Ultimates! They have a single volume control, tones are clear, extremely comfortable for all day detecting, and they have an option if I want my buddy to hear the signal, no need to take the phones off, all I have to do is hit a switch and it allows the signal to come from the control box speaker (might come in handy someday )

I was using the Koss headphones that came with the deector when I purchased it, and they seems to work great for me with the volume and sound quality.
However it states in the manual to run the volume on the detector at max since this is the signal volume, and since the Koss headphones have no volume control, I had to adjust the volume on the detector to about 12:00 so the headphones wouldn't be too loud.
This made me wonder if I was missing the deeper targets by doing this, so I started researching headphones and finally got a pair of the new Sunray Pro Gold headphones after a recommendation by another Sovereign user on this forum.
I have used these headphones about 3 or 4 times so far and they are great with this detector as far as I am concerned.
There is plenty of volume to spare, dual volume controls, a limiter mode for loud signals, and they are very comfortable to wear.
Hope this helps some. decisions, decisions, decisions. LOL!!

I am with Maxwedge (I just won't shout it at you)The black widow are very good and keep out the outside noise. This is a big part of target acquisition as its these little chirps that are to good finds! It should be noted also that using many different type headphones will cause confusion on the tones, so pick one type and go with it sell the rest so your not tempted to use them again!

Have to agree with above posts ... Black widows or my favorite jolly rogers . They are comfortable for extended hunting . NO Sweat head !

I'm using the Sony Studio phones from Walmart. For $20 you can't beat the price. The sounds are great, but no limiter so I have to keep the volume control all the way down on my GT. Still, I seem to be able to hear the deepest of targets. If I was to buy another pair I'd get the SunRay Pro Golds since I hear good things about them and they have a limiter switch so I could crank the GT's volume all the way up and not get blasted by surface targets.

I like the Sunray Pro Golds. the limiter feature prevents signals to come in clearly without blasting your head off and the individual volume controls are a plus.

I also like the Sunray Pro Golds- and I don't even like hunting with headphones. Turn up loud and flick the limiter switch down, that's how I like to hunt.

Besides the fact that my noise cancelling headphones don't have any volume control, they seem to work very well for amplifying audio as well as quieting outside noise. Anybody compared noise cancelling headphones to the respected brands made for detecting?

I took the element's out of the same $20 Sony Studio phones that Critter mentions , and housed them in a set of Peltors ......LOUD AND CLEAR BABY !1......NO outside interference .....Jim
