Headphones?

I know that some of you guys suggested different brands of headphones for my Minelab x70, but I can't seem to locate those posts/messages/or emails. Could you please suggest again? Thanks!

Lisa

Which Gray Ghost? I see that there is the Original, Ultimate, Deep Woods, etc.

Lisa

absolutely won't use anything else. I am strictly a deep coin hunter though...and feel they give the best sounding, higher pitched tones over deep silver.

If you like to relic hunt more...I would recommend Gray Ghosts or Ratphones

All them big hunts I go on, most of us use them. I also Have killer Bee's that are very good.

Sounds like you are a brave and dedicated lady to be out in freezing weather like that.
Mark

I like the killer bees I have the original . My hunting buddy has gray ghost I tried his the other day and mine were louder . That being said his earcups were bigger though. He has a radio shack pair that are louder than both of ours though, but they have a little more bass tone to them.

I wish I could afford some top dollar phones..........I am still using the Koss headphones I got with my x-70

but it doesn't seem to be affecting my finds!

To be honest top dollar headphones are not as loud as alot of cheaper headphones I have cheaper ones and so does my friend and they are both louder than my killer bs and his grey ghost. I have alays wanted to try the koss ones Goes4ever has.

I am also shopping for headphones Lisa. Look at the Gray Ghost NDT(2-volume controls & Limiter permanently ON) so you can change the cords if they break. They have a built in Limiter to stop loud sound blasts.

I have a question, if the Limiter is permanently ON will it have any negative effect, or disadvantages to this??

I also like the Gray Ghost Black Widows(2-volume controls & Limiter ON/OFF switch), Killer B's Hornet "Optima"(2-volume controls & Limiter ON/OFF switch), and Sun Ray Pro GOLD(2-volume controls & Limiter ON/OFF switch).

I do not want 1-volume control, I want 2 of them, because I sometimes want to turn the sound in only one earphone completely off and off-set that earphone to the side of that one ear to also hear outside noises as well. Like bears, snakes, etc. Acting the same as the Rattlers from Gray Ghost with only one headphone.

Hope this helps!

P.S. Lisa, I an Editing this because I just found out that you also have an X-70 the same as me. We are both shopping for headhones for the same detector. Anyway those are my choices above.

I used to use the cheaper headphones that I bought to go with my detector and the last time I purchased any was Koss Headphones and liked using them! Hot in the summertime though, so used a smaller pair of Koss then and the larger padded ones for the winter! Sure helped keep my ears warm, but couldn't hear anything else either, which wasn't good with a lady out by herself! May God Bless you and David with some good ones that will last a long time and you both like using them! Amen! Ma Betty

Hi Ma Betty,

My son and I took motorcycle trips for a few years before he turned 16. Two years ago he and I traveled to Kansas via Mo. Really enjoyed visiting your state. We camped at a RV park along hwy 60 around Mountain View. The lady there was so nice. She gave us a place to set up our tent - a place to shower and an excellent jar of molasses all for 5 dollars. You can believe that was the best deal we got the whole trip.

Hi Tim! Yes, we have mostly nice people here in MO, especially in the SouthEast part! Mountain View is pretty country! I imagine the jar of molasses would have cost $5.00 or more so you got a really good deal! My ex and children used to travel a lot and I know that some camping areas can be quite expensive with or without a tent! Gas was a lot cheaper then so traveling far was not so expensive as it is now! I don't travel any more because of poor health and lack of finances but I have good memories and pics of when I did! It is funny that most kids when they reach 16 don't want to be with dad or mom, as that is a sissy thing and have outgrown that way of life, but really haven't, they just think so!

As he grows older, he will remember the good times you both had together! May God Bless you and yours! Amen! Ma Betty

I have been following this form since Christmas as I bought my first MD just after Christmas and I am in the same boat as you Lisa trying to determine what headphones to get with no way of getting to test them before purchasing. I really do not want to spend lots of money only to find that the headphones do not meet my needs. What are my needs? They need to be comfortable, they need to match my detector, Tesoro Vaquero, for sound capabilities. Do I need 1 or 2 volume controls? What about other features. These are very subjective and personal questions that only the wearer can answer.
I have bought and I am awaiting delivery of a inexpensive pair of 2 volume control headphones to get me started and hopefully I will be able to test drive some better ones in the future and this pair will answer the question of 1 or 2 volume controls.
The ground is hard here in Nova Scotia and temp is 10 F ,12 C so the only place to dig is on salt water beaches.
How we want to hear what that detector is saying to us.
I pray that I will hear what the Lord is saying to me each day and then obey.
Blessings
