I recently purchased a MXT. The headphones that were included are a DAVECO ST-11. Should I be looking at upgrading theses headphones and if so what is the advantage. I'm used to the detectors that just give out a bell tone.
Thanks <img src="/metal/html/confused.gif" border=0 width=15 height=22 alt=":?">

As far as headphones go, the Killer B's are hard to
beat when it comes to price and quality. I recently
bought the Stinger(single headphone) and I love it.
It allow you to hear everything around you while
hearing the detector, too. Took a little getting
used to, but their great. Around $70 are so.

I got my MXT last June and like you I used the set of phones that came in a package deal. They did ok don't get me wrong, but I received a set of Killer B's for Xmas and got to go out twice with them, winter has been harsh here.
Anyway........I was amazed at how much the tones I was hearing had changed, crisper, louder a deffinate big step up from what I had. I am slightly tone deaf, but with these babies it is no problem. I dont know if it was coincidence or not but I found a gold ring on each trip out with them.
I read on here about them and I am glad Santa was good to me.In my opinion you can't go wrong.
HAPPY HUNTING!

All kinds of decisions to make. Thanks for your in put. Sounds like it is going to be the Killers.
The only thing I don't get is why are the plugs only 1/4" when the recepticle in is larger?

The smaller one is the 1/8 inch used like on the walkman radios.
