heel plate age....

fwcrawford

Well-known member
I found these two heel plates and was wondering how long they were produced and used.
The one on the right was found around an old house that was in the woods and looked quite old and I only found a couple items that helped get an approximate date of occupancy.
One was an old bronze pad lock that is shown in an 1897 reproduction of a Sears and Roebuck catalog.
The other item was a Jeb Stuart style sword hander.
The one on the left was found around an old cabin that is still standing and was actually lived in up until around 1979.
I originally thought it dated back to the very early 1900's, but after finding this, I now believe it is quite older.
Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks for looking!!
