Hi its PINPOINTA.I see you use the 5inch excellerator coil can you tell me what it is like on fine chains. Is it dd or concentric
Regards Pinpointa.

You know what, Pinpointta? I'm not sure if it's DD or the regular coil. I bought it from Kellyco as one of the EXcelerator coils, but I can't remember if it's the Double D or not. It really separates the trash, of course, and seems OK, on the depth, although, I haven't really done any real life coin garden tests on that, but, unfortunately I'm not sure about the small chain thing. I've never found any small chains, and I don't have any at home so I'm not sure if it would pick em up or not. I guess they can be really tough to pick up with any coil if they're pretty deep. Hope you find an answer on all this. Sorry, Marc.

Just a notion, I've picked up copper chains from the beach, and they give an interrupted-like signal, along the width of the chain. Maybe gold is like that too. Haven't found a gold chain yet. Some of the long type fishing lures also give the same long interrupted signals. But this is using the regular 10 inch coil. Just a thought.

Hi Guys,
I have been doing a few tests on gold chains with the QUATTRO. The eddy currents just dont lock on fine chains all that good due to the low mass and small cross sectional area. But you can get a fine chain in all metal with a lift up in sensitivity and the fine chains come in at -3 using a coiltek joey elepetical it will get it at 1 inch a wire rope gold chain is another story about 4 inches and a meter reading of 12. I have tried the exterra 50 and is much better with the standard coil and i beleive the distance is better with the 18.75khz coil on the exterra 70.

Golden, I didn't know you used that 10 inch coil.:| I thought you only had the 8". At any rate, I wonder why the signal is interupted? Maybe because it's so small and fragile, the detector cant pick it all up? I havn't found any chains, ever in my life. Boy that's not something I like to talk about, but it's true. I have a friend that found a very heavy gold chain, which he showed me, with a very old detector, but I don't know how deep it was, and it was a very heavy chain, so I would think any detector would have picked it up at any "reasonable" depth.

Oh boy, Pinpointta. That bums me out that the Extera 50 did better than the Quatro, but if that's what it is, that's what it is. I'm surprised, because I know the Quatro is a multi-frequency detector, but maybe while you were searching it wasn't using that 18.75 frequency. I'm pleased that it worked better with the higher sens in all metal. I guess these small chains are a real problem for most detectors. I wonder if a bigger or even smaller coil would help on that. I would think the smaller coil would pick them up better, but not as deep. I don't know why I just said that, but I'm certainly curious. Marc.
