Hey everyone! Brian sent me an email and it made me miss you all. I think about the folks here often but downright missed you tonight. I had been finishing up school, student teaching and searching for jobs for a while and I was blessed with a job at a great HS in Niskayuna, NY. I have been assigned a mentor and am working with he and another Earth Science Teacher to plan and share ideas for lessons. They are a great pair and welcomed me like a friend. Kind of like you all. I am grateful for such an opportunity in a difficult market and have been enjoying each day. Teaching is more rewarding than I had ever anticipated. It has opened my eyes to a whole new world. Just like fly tying had me looking wherever I went for materials to tie flies, metal detecting had me wondering what was in the ground everywhere I went and fishing had me wondering how many big trout were in a stream I passed by, well (run-on sentence:biggrin:) Well teaching has me thinking of how I can use each resource or idea in the classroom. I really understand today what Elson has been saying for all these years. Yes Elson, "Life is good."
I'd like to thank all of you for your friendship and support. You were in the room during student teaching, in the room during the interviews and will be there come Sept 8th. You helped make this happen too.
