Hello everybody I am new to the forum .I have been metal detecting for one year now mainly on the south coast beaches and have found lots of interesting things aswell as hundreds of hairpins and beer bottle tops .
I have noticed a lot of Australians on this forum which is nice to see.I have been reading many of the posts of some of you finding some very nice nuggets and I am really excited about the hobby,I hope you can help me ,where can I go to try gold detecting that is close to Wollongong while the kids ares still on holidays,I would appreciate any ideas .

I'm about 20 mins from you...Oak Flats.
Nothing in the way of goldfields nearby I'm afraid. There are a few places on the Shoalhaven like Yalwal etc... but not known for detectable nuggets, more panning territory.

Hillend, Wattle Flat, Sofala and Ophir are all within 4 1/2 hrs from you with Hillend being the easiest for someone reasonably new to detecting.
What detector are you using?
