Help for building double-d coil

Excuse me for my inglish, I'am italian.
I'have build E.E. BUCCANEER INDUCTION BALANCE METAL DETECTOR by ANDY FLIND, and the depths that I'have gotten is max 100mm.
If someone has built a double-d coil, can you help me?
