Hi everyone....I live in Canada...I found this metal detecting last week..can anyone help with id ing this ring..anyone know anything about it..or who the person is..any help or info is greatly appreicated....
I am getting lots of slack everywhere I go for info..

Looks like a mystical guru ring! (I'd try searching using keywords associated with that whole business?)
 
Might be a carnival giants ring. There was a famous big carnival man who actually had souvenir rings made for the crowds. This should steer you in the right direction.
 
I've seen gaint's rings. They were really cheap and made to give away. That ring is made too well to give away.

That was my first ring of the morning...I found 4 that mornin 2 gold one plated silver and that one((The pic posted are the rings I found that mornin...a four ring day...lol)..It was the first one I undug...
any idea of the date he died and if possible do u know when the ring was made.(year)...Thanks alot for the info....

I think the real question is how you stated that you found it recently metal detecting and yet somebody posted these same questions on other forums almost two years ago.

In those forums, it was found in an irrigation ditch. Wow, you must be able to time travel.

You are correct that in 2009 there was a question posted about this ring...well...not this ring but another ring exactly like this one. If you check the other post from 2009 there is a pic of the ring that was found. It is exact except for the damaged faceplate. I will see if I can find pics of the rings for comparison.

You can see the damage the ring from the 2009 post has on the faceplate. I have tried to contact the OP from 2009 to ask where they found the ring but have not received a message back. I really did not think I would as they OP from 2009 only had 3 posts on the forum they posted their question in.

Interesting observation...I tried comparing pictures of Anton Levey to the face on the ring. While there are similarities I do not think it is him. It is possible though as I have not viewed every picture of Anton Levey.

Anton LaVey died on October 29, 1997, in St. Mary's Medical Center in San Francisco of pulmonary edema. He was taken to St. Mary's, a Catholic hospital, because it was the closest available. For reasons open to speculation, the time and date of his death was incorrectly (by two days) listed as the morning of Halloween on his death certificate. A secret Satanic funeral, attended by invitation only, was held in Colma. LaVey's body was cremated, with his ashes eventually divided among his heirs as part of a settlement.

Yes I read too someone found the identical ring and was also looking for info..No new info has come forward on that case....

who made the ring and time frame..
The ring buzzed in as "penny/silver dime range"..I did get a bounce....but air tests now hit at the same range..
weight 40.8 grams ...30mm height.. 30mm diameter
I have never found a ring made from this "MATERIAL"..yeah sure...yellow gold, silver, white gold, red gold, brass, copper..all kinds of rings...but nothing like this..so this is the mystery and hopefully I get more info on it..
If nobody on the forum knows..then it will remain a mystery....
 
hey steve I found a ring once, that said Texas Giant on it. I thought it was a baseball farm team or something. Turns out it was a famous circus giant. His name escapes me now. Your post reminded me of that- they where sold for collectors, etc. CO
 
Thanks I google (Texas Giant's ring)....James Traver(sp)..definately lots of pot cast rings with James on it..went through the lot...nothing looks like this ring though...I will check out other circus performers or giants.....nothing yet...but thanks for the tip
 
Not positive on the symbols......I thought fer sure I could figure out whats what..I checked into alchemy..occult ..satanic symbols...
The closest I came to getting the exact configuration of the symbol and its meaning is using old (archaic) alchemy that predates the Renaissance period...
Here are the symbols starting at 12 o'clock high going clockwise...I will download as many as I can in this post...

I would be getting rid of that as soon as possible...Toss it in running water...a river preferably...that should seal and hold any negative energy associated with the ring, and I have no doubt it was used for other than good means....
I do not know what the symbols mean, but I have seen them used in satanic rituals...
Whatever you do, do NOT wear it for any extended period of time...

It's a piece of metal and holds nothing...
Should I tossed all my rings and coins and relics and stuff I find metal detecting back in the ground or in the river...na....do you throw your silver and gold religious crosses and medallions back in the ground and river...again na....
If its satanism, please provide me a link so I can cross reference it...
No such thing has occurred and no info is on it in their field...The satan lovers would certainly have jumped on the ring had they recognized it...
Its a weird looking ring and the face makes it look creepy...

I've found 51 rings this 2011 hunt season so far, a record for me...(I'm a dirt digger).....This was ring number 47......No bad vibes..Just tons of good VDI numbers...lol

have checked a bunch of sites, maybe it is some old alchemy symbols? check out this site sometime karenswhimsy.com There is really like hundreds and hundreds of symbols, and icons illustrated there. I really think that face looks like an elderly Boris Karloff, really. CO
