Here is some bad pictures of this mornings finds ( yes the camera is the same and poor and will be replaced to day later. This appearst ot be a six sided coin of copper and is corroded to where I cannot ID properly exactly if it is even a coin. Is there something to clean to help find out what this is. It would be great if someone recongnized shape also. any help is appreciated.

Looks like something from the old ship building days, they used lots of copper to hold those timber boats together....Cheers

[attachment 151393 IMG_0413.JPG]see the penny in this pick isnt too bad,but ive had worse ones like that one you have..looks like a coroded penny a newer one???i find many of those all nice and coroded....imo....:clapping::detecting::minelab::thumbup:

This is not a penny as it is six sided and is the size of a quarter. I cannot tell for sure what it is John. It may even be a charm from necklace or something but it appears to have some type writing on it stamped into it on a very small section. I can only see this with magnifying glass. Is there anything to safley clean copper with just in case? I no Clorox and copper are a nono.

humm ok cleaning, vinegar and a teaspoon of salt and then let it soak for awhile or over night in a small dish or cup..might do the trick..
might even be a foreign coin as theres allot of those on these beaches..but its a find for sure..:clapping::detecting:
let us know how it turns out..

Hi Brily59; Yu can use a polident type denture cleaner. Put it in the water which will bubble up and remove the heavier crusts on it. It may take about 2 - 4 hours of oakng in the cleaner. Don't worry if it stops bubbling because it is still working for you. You "might" have to soak it overnight. When done rinse it off then coat it with a light coat of vaseline or olive oil to preserve it. Good uck. Let us know ok. "As the Plot thickens." Stay tuned.!!!! :starwars:

Thanks Barker as I am new and denture cleaner removes debris from crudded up coins and people put this in thier mouth? Sounds scarry to me!!!!

Ok I highly doubt you can get it clean. It probably is an alunminum coin and there will be no way to tell what it is even if the corosion is off of it. I have found way too many coins in that condition and have had absolutly no luck with them. Aluminum doesn't corrode it deteriorates.

Look at this..........
