Help!! My 250 won't stop beeping!

When I turn on my Ace 250, it just starts dinging on a penny, and nothing will stop it. There is a piece broken off the bottom of the coil, (smaller than a dime) and i dont know if maybe water got into the coil? Would that cause it to just go all zinc on me? I have changed batteries, turned the sens. down, only when the sens is at 1 does it seem to stop. Anyone else seen or heard this? Any help appreciated.

I think you may be right about the dime sized hole if water got into the coil it might have corroded the coil wire. If you can find someone with a ACE 150 or 250 and swap coils substituting a know good coil if the problem goes away you have the answer. If it is just wet it may dry out if you put it in sunlight for awhile if it responds normally patch the hole. good luck

If you can dry it out and plug the hole I would invest 10 bucks into a coil cover. The protection it offers is well worth the $$ spent.:):garrett:

I had to send a coil back after 2 years of use. No visiable defects. It just kept on signaling foil. New coil from Garrett and problem solved
