Help on M-Scope 1265-X

This is one of my dads MDs (other is an old Garrett I've inquired about on that forum), and I was wondering about it & had a few questions. I'm hoping to get him "set-up" & able to MD next spring. He bought both these MDs, but hasn't used them in years. He's 85 and can't remember how to operate them, nor where the manuals are for them. Here are my questions:

1-Anywhere I can locate/view an operational manual?
2- Is this a "decent" detector in todays day of MDing?
3- If so, any coil options? (currently has factory M-Scope 8" coil
4-Any additional info anyone could add?

Thanks for any help/advice anyone can offer.

I have used the 1265X for years. My opinion is it is a great detector. It was a mid-range priced machine. Has great depth. and really simple to use. I have found MANY rings, silver coins, and CW relics with it. It is a basic turn on and go machine. For me it was always very easy to locate my target with it. I still use the machine today and It was purchased in 1992. Now all that being said. I am using an F-4 now. And this is a really hot machine. The technology is light years ahead of the 1265X. However I am still learning the F-4 so can't really compare the two just yet. I called fisher and had them send me a manual for the 1265X and they sent me one for the 1266X. Which as far as I can tell is the same machine. They also have on their website the 1266X manual in PDF format you can download if your wish.

Thanks Tater! I appriciate you info, I'll go have a look at the 1266-X manual. Sounds like this one will definately be the better of the 2 old MD's dad had for him to use, lol....I'll have to give it a whirl myself.

Thanks again for the help!
