help to id Iron bird

Tore N

New member
Any one who can help with ID on this iron bird ?
We have no idea what it was used to.
We find no match and not something similar.
It is of compact iron, and according to the bird's lexicon, it is a falcon or other bird of prey.
It is found in the same area as we found a knife and a fire steel from the vikingage.

??? Did you try looking up Viking era bird gods or talismans ???

It is kind of neat

Jeff

Have searched and searched and I can not find anything similar.
It makes me angry. :ban:
There must be more than one.

Perhaps you can take it to a local museum or historical group. I've heard of items similar to this but they were made of bronze and found in England, possibly from the Roman era. Good luck with your searching.
