Help with Explorer II serial Number

A

Anonymous

Guest
I am looking at a used Explorer II that a guy sent me to evaluate. He gave me the impression it was a farely new one but when I open the box up it looked pretty dirty and pretty old. The serial number of the machine is 10035. That almost looks like it's the 35th one made. I called a dealer and he said the new ones he had in stock were in the high 14xxx like 14997.
Would you guys look at your serial numbers and give me an idea of how old you think this machine is?
Thanks,
Harold

I got mine when they first hit the dealers <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

as far as higher numbers out now, that just means its a great product <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">
As for them sending you a dirty ole nasty <img src="/metal/html/nono.gif" border=0 width=22 height=19 alt=":nono"> unit, check it out and if your not happy send it back.. but send it back dirtier <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

mine is 11238 and I have also had mine for 1 year this month.

I gues this one is about 2 years old then and must be the 35th one made. It actually cleaned up real nice and seems to works ok. I have had one before so I know how to check it.
Now the question is..knowing the age is it worth $650? It's the pro model.
Thanks for any opinions.
Harold

serial is x2c1169 purchased 7-17-2003, course don't know how long it was at the dealers.. Sounds like you got a pretty nice deal... Wish you luck..

Harold,
I just received mine this past Monday & the number is 14840.

mine is 13090. i am planning a surprise birthday for it this month.

I purchased my Explorer II in Novermber 2003. The serial number is X2C 16070.

Harold,
I took the serial number right off the back of the control housing. I was really surprised since all the other SN postings were much lower than mine. In fact the information from Minelab indicating the current numbers were in the 14xxx range is what caught my attention. How could my year old machine be 2000 units higher than that?

Glenn

What does it really matter what serial number you have ? <img src="/metal/html/frown.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":(">
A MKII is a MKII and if it works correctly thats all that matters not this serial number is high or lower than yours. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

The conclusion is that looking at the serial number may not be a good way to tell.
