"Etrac, tone hunting in all metal, how to.."

"First off, I would like to say, home run on the ETrac. In the few days I have had it, it has truly impressed me in many ways. It ignores all the hot rocks and coal slag that I collected with my previous SE. True "see through technology", bravo Mine Lab. However, I am afraid that there is something taking the air out of that beautiful balloon. Many US coin hunters started with their previous Explorers with heavy discrimination patterns to learn to recognize the "good" tones. As they progressed, they learned to use less and less discrimination to overcome the slow recovery speed of the machines and became more effective hunters. Eventually, some settled on conduct tones with Iron Mask at about 27. Others, including myself switched to true all metal, wide open IM, and switched to ferrous tones as we did not like the occasional small iron giving a high tone in conduct tones while in IM- 27. If one were to ask us what we wanted for our next machine, all would have said a faster and deeper Explorer, no one expected the incredible advancements ML has made. I think the new linear conductive scale was extremely logical and is very effective. Problem is, because of the new conduct linear 12 ferrous value, there is no way to hunt in all metal with ferrous tones and still receive multi tones on the desirable targets. An easy solution would be to add a ferrous low tone option to the current conductive tone program, example all ferrous readings greater than say 18 would give a low tone and yet keep all other conductive tones the same. I believe it would only be a software change. My three questions are these: Is the change possible? Can it be done through the USB port? Is Mine Lab considering such a change? This non all metal characteristic is giving many the impression that the ETrac is a pattern machine and I do not believe Explorer hunters are the pattern detector types and therefore souring your US sales. I love my Mine Labs and I am just trying to help."

I than posted a poll as to haw many would like to see a multi-tone, all metal, low ferrous tone option on the new ETrac. We will see if they hear.

what you really want and need and would be simple to implement....

Is volume control over every Tone..... lets say there are seventeen tones for Instance ...you bring audio page up... slide down to tone limits.... the screen shows seventeen lines your arrow over

and set the maxium voume for each tone.......that means that iron .... when nibbling at your toes would make a low background sound but you control how obtrusive it would be. silver and gold

area's TONES could be set to max or what ever is comfortable for you .....so...**** I have not put my frequency counter on my head phone and I should not have to**** manual should tell me how

many tones MULTI ....IS .........a step further would be able to assign tones to any of 1750 target trac's on screen which could be saved in conductive mode or ferrous mode patterns......that's

the big enchilada........the french Gold max is doing something similar in all metal field hunting ................But this would be on a grander scale and would be sweet Multi Tone volume

control...sweet! Just call it the E-tracker JIM

Happy Trails
