Heres a few shots of the Omega thought people might like to see how the battery goes in

and also the detector stand is top notch!this thing wont fall over like some of todays detectors. Also the metal pole is of a lighter aluminum than the most detectors but the way they bent the aluminum into the right angle designs it makes it really strong yet light.Battery compartment is first class i love 9-volts compared to AA's and the omega is using 9 volts !! I have to say the ergonomics of the detectors is the best I've ever swung.super light. if the new t-2 is built on this frame we are in business. I can see some great quality control on this detector compared to the first T-2 I had.Just though I would share. these are some of the build /design thing's I wanted to know about the Omega but couldnt find any info.

Hope it helps someone!

New T-2?????

If there is a new T-2 in the works, Please tell me it will have wireless headphones.

I hope its in this configuration!! Super nice setup best I've swung.I'm sure there will be a model along to replace the t-2 in the future thats all I meant . And you are right wireless headphones would be nice as long as they worked but that might cause a bigger box and we need to stay small and light. My back cant take heavy!

Thanks

I doubt it will operate on 1 9V Keith. 4 AA's is more likely. Just get them out of a rear mount pod and keep it well balanced is the best we can hope for.

I don't think wirerless headphones are needed, they should just put the jack at the end of the shaft by the stand. Can't figure out why all manufactures don't do that. Then your headphone cable is behind your back out of the way. Simple!!!

I think wireless would add a significant amount of money to the cost of the machine and it would be poor bang for the bucks. It would likely add $70+ to the cost of the machine and wouldn't add anything at all to the capabilities of the machine to detect deeper or ID more accurately. It would likely lock you into only having one headphone choice for the machine. I have multiple detectors and use one pair of Sunray Pro Gold's for all of them unless I am going to be hunting in a very noisy environment (for example the ocean beach when the surf is up) then I use Koss QZ-99's which have better noise canceling so I switch to them. If the industry went to using wireless I doubt they would all be compatible and you would end up with a different pair of headphones for each one and also loose the flexibility of choosing the best headphones for your particular application.

There are a lot better features they could spend research and development dollars on than wireless headphones. Having the headphone jack on the back of the battery box is the perfect place for it, it is out of the way and if you get a set of headphones designed for metal detecting than the cord will be designed so it is long enough and doesn't get tangled up like the short ones on cheap headphones do.

Additionally, if someone wants wireless they can already easily add a 3rd party wireless headphone setup to their detectors so building them into a detector would be increasing the cost of the detector for everyone to solve a problem that already has a solution available today and that not everyone would benefit from.

Finally, one of the great things about the T2 is that it delivers top of the line performance for a mid-price cost. First Texas needs to keep that value to price curve the way it is and not add a bunch of bells and whistles that don't help you find more targets but add a bunch to the price like White's did with the V3.

Personally, I hope that every R&D dollar they spend on version 2 of the T2 goes into increasing performance, specifically, getting better depth, more accurate target ID and better target separation. Even though the T2 is great in all 3 of these areas already I hope there is room to get even better.

To add to the wish list: I hope R&D can find a way to defeat EMI which seems to plague its more sensitive detectors. It would be nice to "turn it up" in an urban setting.

I received my Omega today, and am doing some air testing on a multitude of targets (over 200). One thing I can say is it's hands down the lightest detector I've ever held. It also breaks down nicely, and will make a great backpack unit. The build quality seems good, at least equal to the latest crop of F-Series detectors.

Now if only Sunray would make a probe for the new Teknetics line :poke:
