That I have wondered about for a while. It is bronze about 1 1/2 inches tall X 1 3/4 inches wide at the widest point. The writing across the banner says "International" and below that "Life of St. Louis".There is no writing on the back. My first thoughts were that it might be connected to the Anheuser Busch corp. but I can't comfirm this.(The eagle resembles the early A.B. eagle) Any ideas?

Another nice find, Dan!
I don't think it is Anheuser Busch, as their logo with the "A" hasn't changed much from the late 1800's...
Here's a post card from the St. Louis World's Fair in 1904. Got the right look and feel... <img src="/metal/html/shrug.gif" border=0 width=37 height=15 alt=":shrug">
Life of St. Louis? Isn't that what they called you in college. Guv? <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

...a life insurance company. The International Life Building in St. Louie was built in 1907, demolished in 1984...
Whaddya think Dan? Try looking at it cross-eyed. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

I believe you nailed it.I was trying so hard to find a connection to A.B. I missed the obvious. The International Life Insurance Co. was a prominent business in St. Louis in its day. Thanks for the help Steve!

Ha! I kept looking in vain for the "life of St. Louis" -- all in the way ya look at things...
...I guess the company is defunct now, and I see there were some legal claims against it. Other than that, and a few mentions of it here and there, all I could find was the building... I did see a reference to an advertisement in a book in the St. Louis library.
For now anyway, I guess the Guv's title "the life of St. Louis" goes unchallenged. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
Nice find, Dan. Thanks for posting it!

I found a few mentions of it once I did the proper search. The time frame fits the area I dug it in (1910-1920)I would be willing to bet that you are correct in your identification.I suspect that the co. folded around 1929-Like many other cos. Thanks again Steve.
