So far this is the sharpest tool in the shed...
The Troy x2 has a no motion all metal pinpoint button & a "coin check" button. While I pretty much dig it all the coin button helps me determine if the signal is above a zinc...The zincs in the ground may make a few blips but a copper or dime ring nice & solid.
Also-here's the bonus-Gold rings will never make a peep so if you want to concentrate on possible gold targets-at a beach for instance-you can ignore all the high tones & get more time digging possible gold targets.
I had the big coil on my Silver U-max -also with GB mod-but doing the Tesoror "shake" to check a target is a lot harder than the smaller coils.
So I tried it on my Troy. I had to back the GB off a lot to accommodate the larger coil. I use the thresh hold sound in all metal to set it exactly. Very deep with this coil. I air tested a dime over 10", a nickle at almost 12" & a fat gold ring about 14" Solid signals mind you....Also,on the Troy I can use the all metal pinpoint to do a size check-way easier than when on my Silver.
This may be my go-to unit where I have room to swing it. Awsome response & I TRUST this machine. That right there is a key.I don't feel like I'm guessing like on some target ID machines. It may not ID a target exactly but it sure the heck picks them out-even in piles of trash.Awsome separation even with the big coil...
This is my "pry it from my cold dead hands" detector.
The GB potentiometer is 50K and there was no room inside as on my Silver. So I scrapped a housing from the cap of an inhaler. Holds the switch snug & then glued it to the faceplate.Kinda ugly but it really improves the capabilities of the machine. The setting from the stock Troy 9" web coil is similar to what I used for the 5.75 coil. The 10X12 is waaay hotter & the GB has to be backed of substantially for best depth.
