This is the storm cell that flattened Joplin last Sunday evening. It is passing about 5 miles south of our home. We're about 60 mi. due east of Joplin. The cell still had a tornado warning but there wasn't one the ground at this time. The sun was about to set and the lighting was really weird. Hard to see the second one but there is a double rainbow.

Missouri has really been pounded lately. We've had to go to the basement 3 out of the last 4 nights. I know a few people who've been on the ground in Joplin. They all say the devastation is beyond belief.

How far are you away Table Rock Lake and Town called Blue eye. If I remember the name right it may be Blue gill. Any way is just south of Benson.

The tornado missed them by a couple blocks. Steve said that they hunkered down and prayed while the world outside was coming to an end. They did not think they would make it. Inside their house is normal but when they go outside it looks like Hiroshima. They tried to take their little boy down to a park to play and they got lost with no landmarks or street signs. The old trees are even gone and they can see that hospital that got creamed from their house now that everything is flattened. His power is back on and he lost some roofing but they are ok. He needs to move back to Idaho. Want to come wikth him? :D DC

you're going to have some problem like weather, earthquakes, etc. I've lived here 65 years and have never seen a tornado (kinda hope I don't either). In 1982 a small one came through 3 blocks from us. We had no damage. Except for the occasional storm scare SW Missouri is a great place to live. BTW Vern, I enjoy seeing pics of your family. Can't believe they were toddlers when you first posted pics. Dam, we're getting old!
