You could use Ketchup and put that on the Coin's Surface's and wait until it turned brown or dried up and then remove the dry Ketchup and see what the results are. If it needs a 2nd coating, then just re-apply more Ketchup and let it sit for a day and remove again. This will make the Nickel turn Silver Colored and remove all the Crud built up on the Nickel. What I do, I use a Brass Brush and wet this and the Coin and scrub it. I then rinse it off and if it is still Red or Goldish Color, I will apply some Dawn's Dishsoap and scrub it with water added a 2nd time to get the Nickel to get that original Silver look. This last time I did the Nickels, I let them soak in Peroxide for about 15-20 Minutes and then removed them and did the Brass Brush treatment to me. I think the Peroxide helped so you may want to give it a try also. Just don't do any Silver with Peroxide since it will turn Silver a Dull Grey or any Valuable Coins or High Grade one's for that matter using the Brass Brush method and Peroxide. If there isn't much for build-up on the Coin, and it looks like the surface is in nice shape without any discolored area's that look pitted, then you may want to try it but only try it on something similar first to see what the results will be. You could possibly use a Rock Tumbler also but only use it with Non-Valuable Coins. For tips on this, ask Rick(ND) since he is more experienced on this method. Hope this helps. Good Luck and HH.
