Here's the site Marc and I went to today...

when we first started out searching, marc commented that the ground was quiet.
there were no fresh holes dug though.
we had our hopes up for some old silver.
well, after a couple of hours and not much to show for it but a few wheats, here comes this guy pulling up.
he strolled on over and started telling us that he dug this site like 20 years ago. and yes, he found silver...mercs and stuff. <img src="/metal/html/cry.gif" border=0 width=40 height=15 alt=":cry">
we had fun anyway.

That's a bummer. And I suppose he did find mercs and stuff. But I also would doubt he was the only one to hunt it sine then either. Because I would hope whatever machine he had 20 years ago would pale in comparison to what we use now and that what we use now would be able to yank a few more good finds.
My buddies and I have been to some sites that looked like "sure things" and got skunked and walked away scratching our heads. And then when you least expect it, you hit a hot spot. You just never know... <img src="/metal/html/shrug.gif" border=0 width=37 height=15 alt=":shrug">
