I have an Elkay Celebrity model double bowl kitchen sink.
The problem i'm having is that every other month or so i lose the seal twixt the drain body and the bowl drain flange.
I installed the drains new and am using common plumbers putty to seal this area.
( I know to apply a generous amount of putty and the squeez it out when tightening the drain in place)
Never had any problems with this putty in the past with America Standard sinks and 'generic' drains.
The drains i have now are pretty much bottom shelf, like $14 each at the big box store.
Mmm.. or was it $7 each ?
Anywho, does this particular brand sink require a particular brand drain or particular sealant or something?

If you are using a drain that is made of plastic, putty will not stay on and will destroy the drain. The answer to your problem is to use clear silicone caulking. Make sure that the rubber gasket is on the UNDER side of the sink no matter what you use, and use enough silicone to fill the gap between the rubber gasket under the sink and the strainer on top of the sink. Put a bead on the under side of the strainer and spread it out to cover the underside of the strainer enough to fill the gap well. Tighten it up enough to compress the rubber and wipe off the excess before it dries. This will also work with a metal drain. Have fun, DC
