Hey Ed!! The V3i updates have put me over the top!

I have been hearing, and reading on other forums about the V3i upgrade. Once I saw the polar plots that pretty much did it for me. IMHO that new screen or mode is gonna change the detecting world. It has pushed me off the fence. I'm headed down to Pueblo to High Plains Metal Detectors (friends of ours) to look at one tomorrow. I'll more than likely pull the trigger and either buy one or order one. I see that I can get the upgrade for a nominal fee so that is what I'll end up doing.

I'd even consider taking one to DIV and you know how I feel about that damned dirt! (It's not gonna happen though.)

I think the ability to select coils is a great idea as well. The ability to "tune" a detector to a coil (White's) is also a smart move on their part. I have seen a number of other upgrades as well and like what I see. I just wish they would have gone the extra mile and made the Spectra field upgradable. Oh well, can't have it all at once I guess.

Hey Deathwind, I'll have a Spectra soon so there will be another one on the forum with one to compare notes with.

It will be a 50th birthday present to me! WOOT! WOOT!

:punch:

Later this month. Dork.

I knew I should have left that part off.

Head over to the Spectra Forum, there is information there regarding it. The update will be available later this month for either $125.00 or $25.00 depending on when you purchased your detector.
There will be a number of update centers throughout the US to handle the upgrading of all the people that want their V3 upgraded to the V3i software platform.
I would imagine that Sweet Home will be doing it as well but they may also be waiting until the end of April before they begin accepting V3's to upgrade. Call them to find out for sure.

... you'll be able to return your V3 for a free upgrade. Certificates will be available in mid to late April. Contact your dealer for the certificate. Your only cost will be getting your V3 to the service center and a return insured UPS shipping charge of $25. If you bought your V3 before November 1, 2009, the upgrade will cost you $99.95 plus the $25 shipping.

Customers who buy a current V3 now and until the V3i gets into stock will be given a certificate for the free upgrade .... $25 charge for shipping still applies.

Lots of good enhancements with the upgrade. The only thing to be removed on the V3i will be the V3 to V3 program wireless transfer.

Unless those well known and respected diggers, who know what they are doing, report the V3i is superior to the TDI in that dirt .... I'm still going with the TDI for that area of Virginia.

I too am impressed with the loop selection programming and polar plot screens. Those will provide a lot more "entertainment". Not sure how helpful they will be when relic hunting when some iron is good iron and other iron is nails. If you are only after non-ferrous relics, it may be just the ticket!

Happy Birthday Butch.
