Something about that ring was bothering me..so I soaked it for a longer time in Tarn-X...and after about an hour, I went back to the ring and there was this nice looking silver ring in the container..I cleaned it gently and checked inside the band and there it was "925" !

the Tarn-X must have gotten rid of the gold plating....or there was no gold plating to begin with -the lighting and my eyes are not so good these days.
