Hey, remember me?

Hi y'all. I am still alive and kicking in Indiana. Been super busy with my Beekeeping endeavors. Getting a small Beekeeping supply business up and going and all the related stuff. Still detecting. Went out today and found about .73 cents, nothing old, a small "Mammouth Cave Pendant, and a small horse pendant, plus a small gold plated ring, all from the hillside at the school I work at. Joan is doing just fine. We had a great Christmas. Attended our morning service yesterday, then went to the brother in laws for dinner. Spent the rest of the day in the recliner. Off work (paid) until Jan. 3.

Promise to be on here on a regular basis now that the bee thing is taking shape. Missed you all

Doug

Dude I thought you moved to the Congo and no longer had internet, phone etc.... Been trying to get ahold of ya. Glad you are back and alive!

OH my goodness, DK!! It's almost like a late Christmas present to see you posting...we have wondered many times what was up with you! You had better post more often or we are gonna have to make a trip up and drop in on you, Joan and the bees...lol!

Hi Doug, Man ... it's been a while since you've posted and it's sure good to see you again. Glad to hear you and the Mrs. had a good Christmas with family. Enjoy your time off bro and may God continue to bless you with your every need.

Mike, we have changed our internet, phone and cable provider. Getting all three from one service. I will PM you with new numbers plus my cell phone.

Man it is good to see you agan. We have been wondering about you. I live about 45 minutes from mammoth cave.

I wish you well with your new business Doug! Do you have a web site set up?

Anywhere around Clarkson. We were down there this past summer to get a new Queen Bee for one of my hives. Went to Walter Kelly Bee Company there. Pretty country.

Doug, no website yet. Going to get it going first and then see how it goes. Had more calls from people wanting honey and honey comb than I could provide for from my current hives, so need to expand. Had numerous calls from people with swarms of honeybees they wanted removed, again, more than I could handle, so had to reconform my strategy. Looking forward to a new bee year. Maybe I can afford me on of them high end detectors like Mike from Michigan has. LOL

to get a new Queen Bee

I know what you are talking about, but that just sounded funny to me. lol

I told them at church, I drove all the way to Kentucky to get a new lady. Some of the old timers had a skipped heart. Oh, by the way, ALL HONEY BEES are girls except for the Drones, who are male and once they mate with the Queen, they die. Even worse, once the Winter hits, the lady bees kick the poor old Drones out to die. I DON'T want to be a Drone HoneyBee. lol. Oh, and Joan did go with me to get that new lady. lol

When I was growing up at my parents house, one summer we started smelling a strange smell when we would open or go into the bathroom closet. Couldn't figure out what in the world it was! We looked and looked but didn't see anything in there that would be causing the smell. My mother bought several air fresheners but it didn't help very much. That was the summer my daddy had surgery and was paying a neighbor to cut the grass. The neighbor came in and told us he had been watching bees going in and out of a small opening in the eve of the house... right where the bathroom was. With my daddy being out of commission at that time and not knowing anyone else to call, we called a pest control place. They came out and took care of the problem and told us that was one of the largest hives they had ever seen in a house up to that time.

Well, here it is winter... you'd best be hoping that Joan doesn't give you the boot right out into the cold! lo

Joan does not mess with the bees, as she is allergic to the stings. She does make the bee food for me. Have seen some hives in homes that are quite large. I get most of my bees from down around you. Most of my new bee shipments come in from Georgia. Been hearing that they have the "Killer Bees" down in Georgia. Killed a 70 year old man last year. We gotta bee careful. Honey bees are pretty gentle critters. I got stung about 6 times this year, mostly from my mistakes working the hives.
