I'm doing a study on the Reasons For The Validity of the Bible and How It Pertains To Me. Now what do you guys think. I think I know what you guys are going to say but I'd like to also hear the con arguments as well. I want to gain a true perspective as to why each person believes on either side. I want to keep this a a " LIGHT HEARTED" disciussion ok. I don't want to hear about Hell Fire And Brimstone ok. I just want OBJECTIVE opinions ok. I am open and look forward to your feed back. Everytime I read the Bible, something new jumps out and touches my life. I can read and read and read and all the sudden ONE small scriputre hits me like a brick wall and I know it is the answer I have been looking for, OR its an area in my life which I can work on.

The ONLY con about the bible is IMHO is ALL the interpertations of it. Churches twist the meanings of some of the scriptures to fit their agenda. There are approximately 38 THOUSAND denominations of chistans out there and ALL believe they are the right and the others are wrong. AND some chruches unfortunately follow what man wants instead of what the bible says to please the people going there.

The Bible is the word of our Lord. However, man has many interepertations and YOU have to go with what YOU feel in your heart. I believe there is good and truth in ALL christian churches. I ALSO believe there is wrong interpertations of the Bible in ALL of them and that is why we have 38 thousand different christian religions.



And I am sorry if there is spelling errors in my post. My computer has a small problem I haven't repaired yet. Where is a computer tech when you need one anyway?
 
The Bible is the operations manual for all Christians. It is God breathed therefore true.
 
I agree with Mike, when anyone accepts Jesus Christ as their own personal Lord and Savior, He gives us a Comforter...God's Holy Spirit, Who guides us into all truth when we ask and seek of Him and that's when we truly believe and live by the Holy Word of God by studying the scriptures, diligently! Without godly wisdom, we cannot know what the Bible truly is telling us but when we read and study but when we don't understand what the verse(s) are trying to reveal to us, then we ask God our Father to help us understand and have wisdom as He reveals His truth to each of us who are followers of Christ!

The Bible was not written my men in their flesh....it was written by God's Prophets of old as His Holy Spirit breathed into them what He wanted them to write about...which is the absolute truth that man cannot change no matter how hard they try, for God Jehovah reigns, rules and lives forever more as the Creator of all things in the universe and upon Earth! Not all who say they are Christians aren't, because their heart and flesh remains the same with no changes made...like I can go into the garage and say I am a car but not so....because I wasn't made a car but a human-being created in God's image and Jesus died for me, also, that I might be saved and with Him eternally...and I am for I have accepted Him by believing in His virgin birth, death and resurrection! My Savior lives and does eternally, Whom I pray to spend eternity with in His joy unspeakable and full of glory! Amen! :angel: Ma Betty
 
John 3:16 is my favorite verse,my band plays a song called jack Daniels to john 3:16 it has a lot of meaning for me,HHH!
 
I am specifically trying to think as though I am not Saved just like they do. I know they don't understand the Bible "because they are not Saved." I understand that. I want to know why they dispute the validity of the Bible or just don't understand it or use certain points to try to discredit the Validity of the Bible ok. I hope this clarifies things.

Most people tend to lean the way they are raised and most people do not go to church. Alot of youth I work with parents do not go to church and some of them do not believe in GOD at first. Some never do but others after coming to church with their friends for months they start to believe in GOD. They start to see what others have in their hearts and lives and they see something diffrent and they want that. Look around why would you want to believe in GOD when so many say they are christians and they talk just as dirty and bad as evryone one else. The bible also talks about being slow to anger . I have seen us on here blow up in a blink of an eye{me included} . When we say we are christians we have to act like all the time not just some of the time. People are always watching us no matter if we think they are or not. People at work will ask me about things all the time about things and I did not even notice they were paying any attention. If we want people to believe we have to live our lives so they will.
 
by satan's scales and lies, whom they serve whether they know it or not! That is all I can tell you, that unless they hear and hearing comes by the hearing of God's Word they cannot believe and that is why I try to explain the way I do! When they start hearing the Word their eyes will be opened to their black-sinful and stony-cold hearts and want to change their ways or still remain as sinners going the wrong way and serving their master, satan, while mocking God in Jesus' name ( cursing Him that is) and will not or cannot change until they believe in and accept Jesus Christ as their own personal Savior to receive the guidance and teaching by God's Holy Spirit! The only way you can reach them is like Travis said, We must live our lives before them as true, believing Christians and love them no matter how much they resist and balk like stubborn mules! You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink...the same with sinners until God's Holy Spirit moves and works within them to soften their hearts and then speaking the absolute truth of the Bible, hopefully, they will hear, believe and be saved! When writing posts, we need to be gentle but speak the truth and warn those who are about to go too far against God and know that God does reprimand and will not be mocked! I hope this helps...God loves the sinners, for they too are made in His image, and we are to love them, too, but not accept their wicked ways of shaming Christians or our blessed Savior Jesus, Who is God Jehovah! We do what we can and then let God do His work by heeding the Holy Spirit within us! :angel: Ma Betty
 
They are in the blame game. They've convinced themselves that they are victims of horrible parents who mistreated them to such extreme levels that they "just can't listen to a word they say."They look at their parents lives and try to find any excuse to discount their advice. For example:
"If mom smoked for 2 years before she came to her senses about it then who is she to tell me not to smoke!"
Sadly, this is the attitude many have toward the Bible and Christianity. Imperfect humans are used by God to bring truth. And apparently as long as there are imperfections in these humans then they are not to be listened to much less follow their advice!
So, since there are incorrect interpretations of scripture, since there are incorrect translations of scripture and since there are imperfect humans teaching the Bible then there will be thousands of excuses for rejecting God and His Word for those looking for excuses.

To believe in God means to believe everything that is written in the bible is true. (The word of God). To believe everything that is written in the bible is true means people have to reflect upon how they are as people, which means they need to be held accountable for their sins and indiscretions. Many people, in my belief, are spiritually oppressed and don't want to be held accountable for their sins and if they are not saved, will continue to berate Christians. The reason I feel this way is because I was one of them. This is how I used to view it, "If I don't believe in Jesus or God or the Bible than the sins I'm committing can't be held against me". I know, I know, it's whacked, but that's how I thought 20 years ago unfortunately. Just like it's fun and easy to eat a dozen donuts, it hurts to run 5 miles (if you're me anyway :surrender:) and eat a healthy diet, it's easy to sin and hard to be a Christian. (I'm speaking of those who are oppressed and not saved that is.)

In the Army I went through survival school and had a survival manual. I learned how to survive and be self-reliant in extreme conditions so I wouldn't die (save the flesh) and could fight another day for my country. The bible is the SAME exact type of book, except it's a survival manual for your soul. Until people are ready to "die to the flesh" I think it's up to all of us on this forum to continue to reach out to the spiritually oppressed and lost to help them learn about Jesus.

Sarge hits it pretty close to what many who I know (and use to run with) believe. I do still hang with them from time to time and may be the only Christian man they spend any time with.

Why do I believe in God? Because He is real!

A favorite saying of mine;
I believe that even if the bible wasn't true it would be the single best book ever written on how to live a long, healthy, happy and prosperous life.

No biblical history has ever been disproven, give it a shot. In fact nothing written in The Good Book can be disproven. Not even the account of creation, it may not have been 10000 years. That is just a guess extrapolated from the generations. It may have been longer or shorter. There are some astro-physisits who think that may be a good(ish) number though. The why of that you would have to go find your own self (or PM me). Its a Hugely discredited theory.

At least one astro-physists did the math and the numbers working backwards to the beginning of time itself all add up to ZERO, in that there was nothing then there was something. Hmmm

To me the BIG BANG sounds like God speaking into existence all that we know. (I'm just saying)

The Bible has been handed down through time as the oldest unmodified book ever written. (not one jot, one tittle (correct)) Even the oldest manuscripts agree with the newer ones. There are some minor exceptions in the New Testament but it seems that the added verse or two came from another book (of the bible) The Lords Prayer.... for thine is the kingdom and the glory forever and ever Amen, is not supported in all manuscripts. Is the only example I can think of and I believe that the only place you find changes are in the translations, not in the original language versions. No other ancient books hold up the same. They change and shrink or grow over time. I wish I could point you to where I learned this but I am not sure, It may have been D. James Kennedy (maybe???) I think he wrote several books and papers on such things like the founding fathers and their Christianity and apologetics.
