Can some of you experts and non experts give me an opinion as to whether the money is worth spending on an Explorer. I already have a GT Sov. but really want
a new Explorer from Mine Labs. Will be on sandy beaches and mostly relic and coin/jewelery hunting. Any advice is greatly appreciated and most welcomed.

Hey Mike in VA, been a long time since I have posted, I know you have an Explorer (if I am correct) I would like to get some advice from you about the Explorer.

Thanks,

Gary

How well do you know your Sovereign GT?? Some will say it is as good if not better then the Explorers while some will say the Explorers are better. I have them both and I like the GT better myself, but the reason is I know my GT well and the tones work better for me than the Explorer does. Some like the tones better on the Explorers instead of the threshold tones changing all the time like the Sovereign will, the Explorer give the tone of the target and back to a reg threshold unless you use pitch hold on the SE or E-Trac.
Depth wise I have went as deep with them both and I have picked up with the Sovereign coins the Explorer missed, but also picked up coins the Sovereign missed with the Explorer. I now have a E-Trac and only got to use it a little before the ground froze but this detector is very very impressive and to me runs so smooth and can pick up coins close to iron much better. I think I am going to like it as much as my GT if not more.
If you know your Sovereign well I understand they work better on the beach while the Explorers work better in those parks with trash in others considered worked out. The Sovereign is easier to use and not as steep of learning curve as the Explorer, but the Explorer you can tweak more the places you detect.
