Hi Reg

Hello Reg.

Could you please give some advice about Whites-Tdi, what kind of a big coil ( 18" and upp in size) that will corporate without problem.

I saw a big one at coiltek, 40"x20" mother ship mono, will it work?

I don't have any experience in detectors, please don't tell me anything about delay or microseconds :surrender: don't think i will fix it.

I would like to have a detector that will find the big nuggets in the Sudanese goldfields, and will manage mineralized soil over there.

I hope that you will give me some good advice.

Best regards from Sweden.

Hi Nubian,

The short answer is yes, large coils such as the 40" by 20" coil should work fine on the TDI. Unfortunately, I can't complete the long answer without talking about the delay, which is a simple operator adjustable control on the TDI.

In other words, on very large coils such as the 20" by 40", you may have to adjust the delay a little for the coil to work correctly.

The TDI will work with even larger coils than the one you mentioned and people have built larger working coils. Again, for these larger coils to work properly, the delay may have to be adjusted a little.

Now, if you feel that is too complicated because one may have to adjust the delay or it doesn't make sense and don't want to try, then I don't recommend the TDI be used with very large coils, simply because it may not work correctly without adjusting the delay.

Sorry, but discussing the delay and why it may be required to adjust it is part of how a PI such as the TDI works when trying to use very large coils. The TDI is sort of initially tuned or adjusted to work with a smaller coil, so if a person wants to use a large coil, the "tuning of the detector" may require a delay adjustment so the coil and the detector can work properly together. That is about as simple of an answer as I can give.

Never mind Nub...I see Reg found your question and has answered it...despite the language barrier you would do well to learn the basics of the TDI. If you won't learn your abc's you will have a hard time with the TDI...

I realize you want to find big nuggets without spending too much time perfecting your Detecting skills, and apparently cost is a major consideration...so...for a turn on and go machine that will use any Minelab, Coiltec or Nugget Finder coil consider a used Minelab PI. There are 2100, 200, 3000, 3500, 4000 and even 4500's for sale cheap now that the 5000 is out...

If you get a TDI, get the newest Pro model and then let Reg teach you more than you ever thought possible...to learn
