Hi,what does a signal just one direction possible indicate ?? hh

A signal just one way can indicate a couple of things:

1) It could be a coin standing straight up. Test this for yourself. Take a quarter and take your knife and make a slice in the ground straight up and drop the quarter down into that slice. Now run your detector along the axis of the coin (side of the coin to the other side) and notice it won't give a signal (especially if you are using a larger coil). Now take the coil and swing it against the face and back of the coin and notice it gives a hit.

2) It could be a rusty nail.

3) It could be a coin co-located with other trash that hits just one certain way.

it can be what I think is called overshoot which is when you sweep over a larger disced out object and after you pass over it the detector will sound off as if it went over a good target.
Ive dug a few pieces of iron up this way thinking there was a coin next to trash and found nothing but the iron:confused:

I've dug quite a few Civil War bullets that were 10" or more deep but would only give an audio hit in one direction. May be the way that they are laying in the ground or the machine is having a problem IDing targets at that depth. When in doubt, dig, you may get a nice surprise!
