Have you ever done something, heard something or said something that reminded you about a promise you had made and had forgotten? In Nov. '05 my wife was diagnosed with kidney failure. Dialysis followed and our lives were changed to say the least. Well, I had myself tested and our blood types matched and pills have taken care of the rest to prevent rejection of the kidney I gave her on May 31, 2007. Anyway I had promised to make a mini pilgrimage to a historic church in Chimayo, New Mexico to give thanks for the success of the operation. Needless to say, I had forgotten about the promise. Well, a couple of months ago my detecting buddy and I were working an old stagecoach stop from the l870's or so. I got a nice hit and proceeded to dig it up. It was a half-dollar size religious medal of the,"Santo Nino De Atocha" in perfect condition, except for some slight oxidation. We looked at it and I put it in my pocket. Here is where it gets interesting. I was working the area that had been the corral, an area about, 20' X 40'. I kept detecting and then thought to myself that I should have checked the surrounding area of the hole just in case the chain may have been there also. I went back to where I had found the medal and I could not fine the hole I had dug for it. I searched for almost 10 minutes and never found where I had dug!!! I went back and forth, circled and even followed my footprints back. Nothing. Didn't give it any thought at the time. Later that night as I sat at my bench cleaning the medal it suddenly hit me. The, "Santo Nino De Atocha" ( Baby Jesus) is the patron saint of the church at Chimayo!!!! We have had a pretty hard winter, (For New Mexico anyway) and as soon as the snow melts I will be keeping my promise. The above is a true story about how finding the medal reminded me of my promise. It's an old saying but, the Lord sure moves in mysterious ways.

That is a beautiful story, xwyokid, and very interesting.

Also it must be great to be able to hunt at an old stage coach site...I'd love to hunt there

Great story! Hope we see you more!

God bless!

Well about twelve years ago. a Christian friend of my mine was talking in the office to a man and I stop by for a visit and he said I wouldn't be interested because they were talking about the lord. ( wasn't a believer at the time and fought him on the issue for years ) Well a voice inside of me kept remaining me of a promised I made years before that I would read the Bible end to end. So on my next break and a trip to the store for a bible . I now have full filled my promised. I later Thanked my friend for listening to his heart and Thanked Jesus for not forgetting Me---. Graw :yo:
