went down to friends house to search for survey pin again, fustrated again started to search coin signals look what popped out .real dont know read as silver on machine

Maybe lead? Would be nice if it was silver though..

Wow! What is the size and weight? Probably lead, but still cool

I have done a few searches for survey pins. Didn't have much luck until I decided that 1) I am looking for metal and 2) it should (hopefully) be close to the top of the ground.

So I switched to all metal (explorer II) and looked for something loud and shallow.

Found it in a couple of minutes. I even got an "overload" message on the screen display over one of the pins. The only time I have ever seen such a message.

Of course if your buddy isn't real sure where the pins should be it could be a while until you find them.

Please tell me that bar reads an 11-02 when you swing over it. That would simply be too cool. I'm j/k, great find no matter what its made of. Will make a cool paperweight regardless. Nice find and thanks for sharing. HH -Marc

I have seen lead bars just like that about 45 years ago when I was a kid, at a old print shop that used an old "Linotype Machine from the 1930's. Printing shops and Newspapers used alot of those lead bars. "Linotype" machines were sort of hybrids of typewriters and lead smelters.

Lead is a soft plle meatal. I would take a sharp knife and try to scape the edge of the bar to see if it easily goudges. Just a thought. HH Metalmiester
