Hit an old home today. Not real old finds but fun.

Any time you find Barber or Indian Heads is a great day. Nice looking Indian Head and Congrat's on the Silver and the Wheats as well. Hope you find more and hope to see you post some more nice finds. Good Luck and HH.

Apparently you are not going to old sites then. You have to get into old yards and do some research so you can find those long lost Silver Coins. Also remember to ask any old timer you see if he remembers any carnival spots or balldiamonds or picnic grounds. This is some of the great ways to find Barber and I hope you find one soon.

signals that sound crappy too, you may be passing over goodies, I don't know just a guess. If you've got an Explorer and hunting older Parks/fields/yards then you should be at least finding one, check it out here. Many people who buy an Explorer find an average of at least 60 Barbers a year...

Nice finds there Jim............:) I would take those not so old finds any day!! Hit that old place again........I'm sure there is some more just waiting to see the light of day again. Good luck. HH.

My mom graduated from High School in 1960 and she told me that her Mom (my grandmother) bartered pigs and chickens for their back to school clothes in the 1950's. Money was a rarity but you could always work, trade, or make pmts. on the necessities. My home town was granted it's charter in 1919 and I've found about 10 indian pennies over my career. It would seem that there would be a barber in the haystack somewhere, but probably not very many.

..and for your first year with an explorer I can see that. To keep that pace up for following years would be difficult. Unless all you do is detect and have no family. Jim

four kids...21, 18, 16, and 2, so have that part covered, and easy for many to keep up if you have enough good sites, I don't but still average 100+ silver a year, 76 so far this year and I don't even detect close to what I want to do, can't wait until my daughter is a couple years older, going to put her to work digging holes!! My first year with the Explorer found 360 silver. That was in 2002, last year my worst was with 57, and that due to the fact most of my "old" detecting time was now diaper time. She's older and have a little more free time, as long as you keep a proper balance things work out!

I think Mike Moultry had something like 700+ that year and Golddigger had just under 700. My dad had 300+ and know a few others had 300 or more, that was 2002. Many of the old timers will tell you the same. Even now, check out James in ND, I'm sure he's pushing 150+ so far this year??
