Hit some silver Thursday... :cam:

It was a nice day so I took a vacation day to get a couple of things done; one being going back to the park where I found the 2 mercs last weekend  After hunting for about 30 minutes, I was asked to leave by a park employee. There were a couple of guys flying remote control planes way on the opposite side of the field where I was hunting. Seems it's a liability thing. (someone got hit by one last year) Oh well, so it was off to another park.

Got two Washingtons for my efforts... I knew the '47 had to be silver. Sounded real good and it was near a tree buried about 5 or 6" under some big roots. I had to do some tunneling to get to it, but eventually I was able to reach it. (sure wish I could have used an axe :) )

After hitting some clad here and there, I started hunting an out of the way spot with not as much trash. After hitting a shallow wheatie, I decided to do a good search of the area. Found the '42 only about 1" down, if that. It's not in as good a shape as the other but silver is a rare thing so I'll take it... Also hit two other no date wheaties and some clad. What a pleasure to finally be able to hunt without a jacket on!

It's taken me a while, but I think I have a much better hang of this machine :) This is fun!

Hi Joe,

Looks like some good finds, I wonder if it's a case of who's in the park first, the model planes or the metal detector.

Keep the pics coming

All the best......Boony

Pretty nice finds. It is hard to find silver quarters in parks around here but it occasionally happens. Usually the big silver is the first things found in parks so you got lucky. I would try and get back to those parks just to get some more silver before the next guy does.

Hey James,

I was wondering the same thing but I have an explanation. The one I dug near the tree was a pain in the butt to dig out on account of all the roots in the way. If anyone hit that one, they passed it up because they were lazy... The other one I hit was in an out of the way area, somewhere I figured no one would bother to hunt. It worked to my advantage :)
