Hit The Beach Today, Got Some Gold!

Had the new machine to the beach today. Using the 12.5" coil I've been using with the Quattro. Running the Explorer pretty hot, not many targets and what was there was deep but did manage a 14K ring with an Opal.

My beach program from henceforth will be: (and this is with the 12.5" coil)

IM -9 (Hunted very well that way)
Sensitivity on 24 in the wet sand, 22 in the shallow water.
Ferrous Tones (Liked it better)
Switching back and forth from Smartfind to Digital...favoring Digital.
Fast - On (Tried Off, not as good for me)
Deep - On

Some of these targets were very deep and I had to learn some Explorer II language. The ring souned VERY sweet and surprised me by coming in at 11 - 00 on the digital. I verified this with it laying on the ground as well. The tone was awesome...I knew. Or HOPED I knew.

Ran into a few other hunters...Max, Low Tide Tim, and David from Suffolk. Lot's of people out there...I expect that next weekend being Memorial Day, things should really start heating up. I saw a lot of "bling" today...now all they have to do is start dropping it!

Here was my first dig...a pair of sunglasses deep in the dry sand. I was on my way to the wet. They sounded good. The signal on the screen is actually from getting my scoop too close to the coil.

Yes, things should be heating up soon!

And the final haul...not much, but it'll do. By the way, I knew all of those pennies were pennies. But I wanted to dig SOMETHING. Happy to get gold on the first TWO OUTINGS with the new machine! Yesterday it was a gold pocket watch, which can be seen on the Explorer forum if you like.

Nice looking finds. Ferrous tones will make those low conductivity targets stick out alot better than conduct tones.

Looks like the beach is starting to get some action. Nice find on the ring Bro. Cant wait to use the MP out there.

Yeah, I think it's going to be hopping from here on. Next weekend should be good. Lots of people getting in the water, even though it's still as cold as the proverbial witch's mammary gland out there yet. :laugh

Way to go Mike....I think you are enjoying your Exp. as much as I'am mine. I've strictly been a relic hunter for almost 30 years...but after finding that silver quarter today at a old housesite, I think I'm going to do alot more coinhunting also...I absolutely love that sound of silver on the Exp.

HH,
Don

Yeah, it's a fun machine to hunt with. And today I discoverd, at least at the beach, that I like the Ferrous tones better. I'll have to try it on land next time.

Keep swinging and keep digging!
