Took the kids crystal hunting in Arkansas on Sat, saw a GREAT place to hunt in a small old town but as luck would have it, didn't take the detector..:ranting: We had a GREAT time anyway, digging crystals for 6 hours and driving back home for 7 hrs. The wife got some well needed quiet time and I got a perfect weather day on SUNDAY to hit that yard again.. and MAN it threw me a loop! Three more tokens, a bunch of wheaties all in the teens and as JB guessed it in an earlier post, a sweet 1903 Barber that was on 5 ft away from the merc that I hit last week near the driveway.:yikes: I'm beginning to think that maybe I've found where the clothesline must have been hanging as it seemed like I kept pulling the tokens and pulling the tokens. Anyways, the first photo was my favorite crystal that I found and the second photo is today's finds and the third is the house from heaven. CHEERS TO YOU ALL!:beers:

As I said earlier, any time you find the amount of tokens you found and the 23 Merc. there has to be older stuff around. My experience has led me to date tokens from basically the late 1800's up to the 30's but usually around the early 1900's. You did good and I am sure there is more oldies there, so keep it up and remember you still have another lot to go if I'm not mistaken.
Nice finds you got there, John

i did a quick search and came up with this Dec. 14, 2004 article from Coin World magazine.

i wish you the best of luck!

Man! Thats a GREAT article! I really appreciate you researching enough to find it. Its kinda funny you know, for me, I think half of the fun of MD'ing is spending the time to find out exactly where that item came from and how it came to be there. Thanks again for a great read! Duane

John, as I was hunting today, a nice older gentleman walked by from down the street. I took the headphones off and he asked me if I hit the jackpot yet. I told him that I had found a few goodies and he proceeded to tell me that his house down the street was built in 1925 and this one was here before that and I ought to find some oldies in there. Very nice I thought...Good call on the barber too..Kudos, Duane

The Crystal is about the size of a candy bar and I told the kids that they have mystical healing powers...oooh.....so I guess we'll all sit around and get healed...LOL...makes a good story anyway...

Duane

Now I KNOW you had to have gone out this last weekend and busted out some injuns and silver....come on and show us all the stuff!

Duane

Some nice finds N2 :please:

Congrats on more Good For Tokens! Nice Crystal also. That yard looks like a lot of fun to spend a few hours at and I hope you go back and continue finding many more treasures to add to that haul you've made so far from that yard. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH to you.
