Horsehead Buckles - Western Ukraine

Member
I wanted to share my favorite finds and ask for opinions. These are made by the same metalsmith. One was found in Western Ukraine and the other along the same old road in Poland. Since this was a heavily traveled commerce road, I'm wondering if the men that wore these worked for a horse riding security force along the route, protecting the business men transporting their goods. They are about 3.50" wide. What do you think?
