Hot chocolate + 5 mph winds + 25* + low tide = 14 K gold ring

Couldn't pass up a day like this...especially with 10-12" snow predicted for later in the day.

Hunted 2 hrs. wet slope and muddy troughs

Found this small ( pic is enlarged for detail) 14 K in one of the troughs.

GT gave off a nice solid, low tone..ring was about 6" deep

Believe it or not , with a bit of apparel help, it was not cold out there; with double gloves and triple "turtle necks", triple socks, and warm knee- high fishermen's boots, it was comfortable.

If I didn't have housework waiting to be done, I would have stayed out there longer ....love that fresh outdoors brisk weather.

If you ever take a trip up this way in winter, you'll see what I'm talkin' about...just remember to bring triple of eveything!

When you and i were kids, waaayyy before polypropilenes and water 'wicking' underclothes.
We had no choice but to triple up on everything
Our feets were allways 2-4 pair o' socks with bread bags over 'em and then a pair o' "fibucklearctics"
( 5 buckle arctic rubber boots )
We would go out to sled ride and stay out so long that by the time we came in
we were so cold that all we could do was bump open the cellar door and then stand there and cry until someone came down and undressed us

BTW, the worst part o' all that was, to thaw out our frozen hands,
our mother would run our hands under hot water.
That felt 'bout as good as when she'd put butter on our skin if/when we got a burn.

Or, when she pourd methiolate on our cuts.
