Hot, dry silver!

Hot and dry it is down here. I haven't given up digging yet, though. Was on the old housing site at 6 this morning and lasted until 9. Worked spots with thick grass for a little easier digging. Namely, the three or so feet out from side walks. For my 3 hours, I got the 42d Merc, small 925 silver ring, 4 wheat cents and a few more modern coins. In the picture is some sort of a cap that was in the same hole as the clad quarter. Out of the ground it rang in at 84-85 and was about an inch deeper then the quarter. The small ring was a 80-81 reading. Had the Omega with the 5" coil on and sen 99, disc 1, d3 tones and g b of 57-61. HH jim tn

Way to go Jim. I'm really impressed that you are finding silver in all this high heat and hard ground.

I am out there early and hunts are shorter, for sure. Where ever on those fields there is thick grass with a good root system, digging 4 or so inches deep isn't to bad. Much deeper, then it gets tough. HH jim tn

Thats some very nice work under tough conditions! Really glad to hear you can work that dry soil with your equipment. I always figured deeper coins would be safe once the ground got hard and dry...evidently not safe from you!:clapping:

nice finds jim maybe its time to start hitting some of the parks that get watered look for some gold or silver rings and such, i think in that heat i might try some night hunting happy trails

Nice silver Jim!!

In the summers out here, the ground is like cement in some areas. I have a small pick that works wonders with cement soil
