Got out of the house this morning, and headed to a spot I have been researching for the last couple of weeks. Because there was a good probability of digging some older stuff, I figured the GTI 2500 would fill the gap. I hunted in discriminate mode mostly in relic program, however, I switched to true all metal when things got a little quiet. Here's all the goods I dug. There wasn't really too much trash....maybe a few old rusted bottle caps, pull tabs and foil.

My first two coin signals gave a belltone, size "B" at about three inches, and I got a dime, and then another seconds later. The rest of the day got me many more coins, and some nice oldies too.

Here's the pennies and nickels. I had many others from the forties on up.

WHISTLE2.jpg

That locket in the top left hand corner baffled me? Nice mother of pearl on one side, and three rings on the other. I'm not sure of the significance of those rings....any ideas? Also got, what I thought was an earring, which turned out to be part of a fishing spinner. That copper tube on the right is probably a whistle.

POCKETWATCH2.jpg

What I thought was an old flattened wine cap, after some cleaning turned out to be a case for a pocket watch. It has some beautiful artwork on it, and is probably silver. It has a number and a couple of stamps on it. Also got one of those old earring with the clasp, which I lost. May be gold plated....who knows?

Dug up an old watch, gold plate I imagine. It also has some very nice art work on it.

My last signal gave that over-load signal, and I figured that it was probably an old rusted can. Well....I dug it anyways, and out came a nice old powder-puff for a lady, from many years back!

And go figure, a cold front came through, and we got SNOW! But, not enough to stay on the grass. Tomorrows another day, and I am off from work again.

That is a good day for you.
Lots of old coinage and relics.
Congrats on the excellent finds.

Incredible!:clap:Awesome hunt, John!:super:Congrats on all the old finds! I love those large cents!:please:WTG!

John did you check if the small 1936 penny has a dot below the date ?
Only 678,823 minted and in 1997 and 1999 good specimen sold for $121,000 and $115,000 .
You could have big money in that find

That is an amazing hunt. What type of site is it? How long did you hunt. Would be one of my top 3 hunts for sure!

Chris

John thanks for the pics and post. Love seeing great finds.Your pics are always so good and clear. How do you do that?:wiggle:

Quite a variety of goodies there John, Large cents are always a good find. It would be nice if there was a dot on the 1936 penny. Don't like the thoughts of snow at this time of the year, just keep it out west. Good finds HH Ken

wow john wtg that is one heck of a relic hunt i would say

Nice pile there. Dunno, three chain links is a symbol of the International Order of Odd Fellows.. might have something to do with that. HH
