Hot rock hell

A friend showed me 5 virgin cellar holes last summer (he is a bottle hunter and he doesn't detect)and found another while snowmobiling in the same area this winter. I have been waiting for winter to end so we can get in there while the understory is leafless and the ticks and skeeters are dormant. I found one small buckle at the first hole and an 1810 LC and flat button at the second. Both finds were 15+ feet from the rock foundations. When I get near the rocks (I mean every rock in the area) they sound off. Hot rock hell is what this place is, in some places a compass won't work right. I have never seen anything like it. I would love to detect inside these places and I know that by notching out the rocks and lowering the sensitivity I will be able to deal with them eventually. I am just curious to see if anyone else has ran into this and if they could give me some tips so I can spend less time programing my EX II and more time hunting. I am waiting impatiently for the snow to melt. I won't be able to get in there for at least a month. Thanks in advance for any help.

and that works for me in other areas but not here. The cellar holes and stone fences for about a one mile radius are all stinkin hot! hot! hot! rocks. My compass will not give an accurate reading either. Every swing of the coil produces sounds across the entire scale. I tried all the basic stuff and was hoping someone may have experienced some thing simular. There are no houses with in a mile or more and no powerlines or radio/cell towers in the area. It a true back woods site. Mineralization in the soil doesn't seem bad, only upon approaching the fences or foundations then my machine goes nuts. Thanks for the tip, any other ideas?

Arron. Try this desperate experiment.

load a clear screen (no disc).
Then go to the LEARN mode. Choose reject, and swing over any bad area to get a mask of the bad stuff.
Save it for reference.
Try detecting with this screen, in Smart mode.

Let's see a picture of the saved screen......Matt.

I won't be able to get in there for another month, but I will try that for sure and let you know how it works. Thanks
