How big of a learning curve is the XP deus ?

I want a lighter machine but can not get rid of my other machines. It's a strange thing that makes me want to hold on to all my detectors. But may sell a couple to fund the XP Deus . I like the weight and wireless headphones. So my question is is there a huge learning curve , will the default setting do the job of pulling deep targets. Thanks for any info. GS

the learning curve is more dependant on audio interpretation, and it seems as learning the nuance comes with time.

So: not hard to learn, just takes time (like every other machine)

I've had mine for a month now and I feel like I have a long way to go before I feel like I can use it well. the stock programs and the programs in Andy's book are great places to start and can get you up and running pretty quickly. But the 4 frequencies take some time to learn as does tweaking any program to suit your site or the stuff you are looking for. some days I feel ok with it and other days I feel like I don't have a clue what it's doing. the thing that keeps me wanting to use it is it's fast responses to targets in heavy trash areas. I know that in time I will find some good stuff where I didn't before. it is a great tool and once I started using it and went back to the CTX3030 I couldn't believe the difference in weight. now I can only use the CTX for a short time before it hurts and grab the XP and can go for hours. I wouldn't be without it...

To get the best depth out of the Deus of course will take some educating yourself to the settings but you can always load up the GM Maxx and get great depth right out of the box.

GM Maxx ? Never tried it, how does it perform? What was it created for, isnt that a detector XP makes also?

Think rainbow. You can use it just fine right out of the, box but it will always have new things to discover. When you think you know it all there will be something new just around the bend.
Think Rubik's Cube for possible settings.
Think I need to go.

GM Maxx works great. I've used it with a few tweaks. You have to make adjustment to the site you are detecting. You CANNOT use Jivin' Jimbo's Silver Sucker and wonder why you aren't finding anything when he's in Alabama and you are in Maine.

Yes there is a bit of a learning curve but it is not that hard. The Deus has pre programs built in to it that you can use right away. One of the things you can do is look up the Deus on YouTube. They have plenty of videos on the use of it. Very informative and they show how to use it. Also Andys book is worth the money and has tons of stuff in there too. Don't be to worried about depth at first. Just get to know the unit. Then afterwards play with it to get maximum depth if you want. It's good unit and it out does a lot of other ones.Dollar for dollar you can;t go wrong.

I had to at first ask the kid next door how to use the Deus because I wasn't familiar with computers. You know they are now days born with one in their lap. And after a few minutes it was quite easy.It was just how to fuction the buttons to the screen. Then it was a breeze to use. The manual exlpanes everything well, just fallow it. At first I had thought that I was doing something wrong, but I was finding all sorts of stuff that my other detectors didn't find. And it was good stuff!! So don't get upset about the learning curve. Get one and have fun!

I hope that I helped you and don't be apprehensive about learning something new! I did it and so can you! Have fun!!!

Some folks try to run before they can walk.

The basic programmes will not let you down and later you can try other variations.

The cordless sound has not been matched todate by any other manufacturer.

I have used many mahines over the years and if I had to detect for my life on a general, average, virgin field this is the machine that I would choose to use. Jerry.

Thanks guys for all the info. I was thinking about a Deus for the light weight. But my F75 ltd is light and still learning it. Maybe in the future . GS
