How can you turn down a $120 INCA ????

Mike Hillis

Well-known member
I know I'm hooked on tone id, but shazam!....$120 for a great condition INCA with a recent checkup and new coil....How could I pass that up?

Lets see...how do I explain this to the little woman? We already had a recent conversation. It went a little bit like this.....

Her...."Mike, I think you have too many metal detectors."
Me....."You do?"
Her...."Yes, I do."
Me....." How many metal detectors do you think I have?"
Her...."Well, there are three in the closet....."
Me....."You remember that the last time we had this discussion, I agreed not to keep more than six around at any one time?"
Her...."Yes, I remember. How many do you have now?"
Me...."How many do you think I have?
Her...."How many are under the bed?
Me....."How many do you think are under the bed?
Her...."I think there are two under the bed."
Me...."Remember one of those detectors in the closet is yours so it doesn't count in the total."
Her..."So is that all you have?, the three in the closet and the two under the bed?
Me...."Is that all you think I have?"
:crazy: :rofl::shrug:

I remember a few years back that she got upset if I had more than two at any one time, I used to keep them all together in peices so that she couldn't tell exactly how many I had. When I brought a new one home, I'd sneak it into the home in peices and just add it to the mix. HAHA. I don't have to do that any more as she has gotten over it. But the INCA is going to put me over the total. Not quite sure how that will play out yet.

When ever I have too many and the wife gets verbal I just tell her I'm selling one... Which is true, but I always need to "test" it first. I want to make sure it's in good working condition.

Her: why do you have 4 detectors?
Me: im already selling one and this one was too good a price to pass up and I always wanted to try this model.
Her: so you're selling them, right?
Me: ofcourse, I'll try this one out for a few weeks and then it'll be for sale.

whenever I have more than 2 I'm selling atleast one.

Just tell her it's an older 30 year unit you got dirt cheap.
If she still complains tell her I saved $900.00 by not going out and buying one of those new fancy digital models.....if she opens her mouth to speak, stop her and tell her we are going out tonight to celebrate the bargain purchase. Who knows she may expect something extra...LOL
Then you can go back to looking for another bargoon buy.
I think I can get away with another one right now as my wife has a hobby she indulges in, everytime she goes to the bead store for a few items, she leaves behind $100.00 or so. She thinks she has a problem, I said no she is turning into a collector. That's what collectors do........so I'm a lookin and I'm a gonna buy something....:look:

She sounds like my wife also :goodnight:

Hey SEMPERFI, you shouda sent it home for a checkup. My Inca(still have it too) would pick up a half dime only a hair less than my buddy's 1265. That is plenty deep enough to be a keeper. First Inca Field Test is in the May /84 W & E Treasures Mag. and it matched up pretty much with what my thoughts about it's depth would be. I liked the depth meter too, and after using it awhile found it to be handy when wanting to dig just the deeper stuff, because it always showed plenty of goodies way down on the meter. HH, Charlie

Know how you feel. About 10 years ago I got my Royal Sabre for $75 from a guy who needed the money. I've never sold it.
